Introducing Video Restore: Insure your videos against accidental deletion

We’ve all been there—whether it’s an accidental deletion or a sudden change of heart, losing valuable video content can feel like a disaster.

At api.video, we know just how important your video assets are to you. That’s why we’re thrilled to roll out our latest feature: Video Restore.

With Video Restore, you no longer have to worry about permanently losing videos that were mistakenly deleted. This new feature allows you to easily restore your deleted videos, providing a safety net for all your content. Available both via our API and directly on the dashboard, Video Restore is like a health insurance you take for those times when your video may get accidentally deleted.

What does Video Restore do?

Video Restore is a feature through which you can recover deleted videos. When you subscribe to the Video Store feature, your videos instead of being permanently erased, are stored in a safe space.

Remember that in the Video Restore archive, your videos will be stored for a period of 90 days and then will be deleted permanently.

How does it work?

When you delete a video, it’s not gone forever but rather remains available for recovery. Here’s how you can use Video Restore:

1. Recovering videos via the dashboard:

• If you’re using the dashboard, simply navigate to the ‘Account Settings’ tab in your dashboard.

• Choose ‘Access’ and click on ‘Request Access’. This will send a request to our Customer Support team to accept your request for Video Restore.

• Once the request is accepted, the status of your request will change to ‘Resolve’ and you can now access the restored videos under ‘Explore’.

• Once you see the list of videos, click on the video and choose ‘Restore’ to retrieve it.

2. Recovering videos via the API: For those who prefer automation can opt for Video Restore through the API. You can programmatically restore videos using the endpoints mentioned in the documentation.

Who is it useful for?

Though Video Restore is useful for everyone and anyone (because everyone is prone to making mistakes), here are some examples of how it can be helpful in specific industries.

• Online-learning and education

If you are a school, university, or an online learning platforms that often produces a large volume of educational videos, Video Restore can help restoration of accidentally deleted videos. These could be lecture videos, training sessions or other important course material uploaded by teachers or homework submitted by students.

• Recruitment

In the recruitment process, both candidates and HR professionals are actively using your online hiring platform. Be it candidates uploading video resumes or recruiters reviewing them, accidental deletions can happen on either side. Pricing

When you opt for the Video Restore feature, there will be a small increase in your video hosting costs. For up to 100,000 minutes, the cost of hosting for your videos will be $0.005 per minute. If your usage exceeds 100,000 minutes, the rate decreases in the same ratio.
